Date Seed Extract - Date seed extract, a cosmetic active with dehydroepiandrosterone, a chemical constituent seen as slowing the aging process by promoting keratinization of the epidermis and strengthening barrier function.
Lupin Seed Extract - Sourced from lupine plants cultivated using sustainable agricultural practices in France, lupeol is extracted from the coatings of sweet white lupin seeds. This extract is said to stimulate the synthesis of collagen to increase elasticity and firmness in the skin.
Argan - The use of Argan oil in anti-aging cosmetic products has become ubiquitous in recent years, and for good reason. Traditionally, Argan oil has been used in Morocco as a topical oil to treat dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles, joint pain, and skin inflammation. Scientific evidence for this traditional use has been discovered, having been shown to decrease the expression of enzymes involved in melanin biosynthesis. A clinical study has demonstrated a significant improvement in skin hydration for thirty postmenopausal women.
Squalane - Squalene is a naturally occurring compound of the skin’s sebum. Squalane is a bio-identical emollient that our skin readily accepts as it’s own, allowing it to sink in quickly and deeply bringing our actives along for the ride. It’s a light, silky feeling oil that’s non-comedogenic and anti-oxidant which softens and moisturizes the skin extremely effectively. Traditionally derived from shark liver, MIDLIFE uses a GMO free, highly pure, and ecologically green squalane, sustainably sourced from sugar cane.
Sea Buckthorn Berry - A favorite of MIDLIFE, this beautiful oil acts as a skin penetration enhancer. It has a light and velvety feeling on the skin. Belonging to the Elaeagnaceae (Russian Olive) Family, Sea Buckthorn is a dioecious thorny shrub that is believed to have originated in Asia and can now be found on the sandy European and North American coastlines. Oils from both the berry and seeds are found in skin care, but have quite different triglyceride compositions. It’s relatively high levels of palmetaleic acid make Sea Buckthorn Berry oil useful for acne-prone skin. Isolated palmitoleic acid has shown in vitro antimicrobial effects, as well as inhibitory effects on synthesis of melanin. This oil is plant magic at it’s finest.
